Romania Bolted Silo Project Completed
Project Assessment for Romania's Bolted Silo Requirements
The journey began with the client’s inquiry for a reliable, large-capacity cement storage solution suitable for multiple concrete batching plants across different regions in Romania. The client needed to operate across multiple job sites, with each site having a usage period ranging from a few months to two years. Therefore, what the client needed was not a traditional welded silo but a cement silo that could be dismantled, relocated, and still meet large-capacity storage requirements.
Given the geographically scattered locations of various job sites, the temporary nature of some projects, and transportation restrictions on oversized and overweight equipment, SDCAD’s engineering team recommended the Bolted Cement Silo. This modular silo is part of SDCAD’s bolted series, known for its European-standard design, durable components, and flexible installation methods.
The complete product structure for this project included a Bolted Silo as the core storage unit, complemented by a Bucket Elevator for vertical material lifting, a Screw Conveyor for horizontal material conveying, a Dust Collector mounted on the silo top for emission control, an Air Cannon for arch breaking and promoting material flow, a Rotary Valve for controlled discharge, and a Telescopic Chute for dust-free truck loading.
Key customizations included optimizing the silo corrugated sheet thickness and reinforcing rib layout to withstand Romania’s windy climate, configuring a pulse jet silo top dust collector to meet EU emission standards, integrating the control system (PLC and sensors) with the client’s existing concrete batching plant interface, and offering a RAP powder recycling interface option to support sustainable production practices.
A critical factor in the client’s decision was the simple foundation requirement. Flat ground with simple anchors instead of deep foundations significantly reduced civil construction costs and lead time.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
Following the contract signing, the manufacturing process at SDCAD’s Shandong, China manufacturing base was initiated. Our stringent quality control procedures ensured that all components, such as the Bolted Silo body panels, Bucket Elevator sections, Screw Conveyor assemblies, Dust Collector cartridges, Air Cannon units, Rotary Valves, and Telescopic Chute components, met exact export specifications for the European market.
The modular design of the entire system was a key focus during production, guaranteeing ease of containerization and subsequent on-site assembly, a crucial element for a successful turnkey solution delivery in Romania.
Seamless Logistics: Bolted Cement Silo Delivery to Romania
The shipment phase was meticulously executed to ensure the safe and timely arrival of the complete cement storage and conveying system. All components, including the Bolted Silo, Screw Conveyor, Dust Collector, Air Cannon, Rotary Valve, and Telescopic Chute, were packed into multiple standard containers at our manufacturing base and shipped from Qingdao Port, China, destined for Constanta Port, Romania.
Our logistics team employed specialized maritime transportation protocols to protect the equipment during the ocean voyage, which took approximately one month. After successful customs clearance, the equipment was transported by truck to the client’s multiple job sites across Romania.
Turnkey Assembly: On-Site Fast Installation, Commissioning and Trial Operation
On site in Romania, SDCAD’s experienced installation supervision engineers arrived to work closely with the client’s local team. Thanks to the system’s modular, bolted assembly design, the entire installation process was simple and efficient.
The installation process involved preparing the flat ground and anchoring the foundation, assembling the support frame and installing the Bolted Silo corrugated sheets, installing the Bucket Elevator for vertical material feeding, connecting the Screw Conveyor at the silo bottom for material discharge, mounting the Dust Collector on the silo top for emission control, installing the Air Cannon on the silo cone to prevent material arching and blockage, connecting the Rotary Valve at the discharge outlet for controlled material flow, and finally installing the Telescopic Chute for dust-free truck loading and interfacing with the concrete batching plant control system.
The total installation time was approximately one third of that required for a traditional welded silo of comparable capacity. The client highly appreciated the installation speed and quality.
After successful installation, the critical commissioning and trial operation phase took place. SDCAD engineers worked closely with the client’s local team, providing comprehensive operational and maintenance training for all equipment.
The training focused on daily maintenance of the Dust Collector and pulse cleaning cycle settings, calibration and inspection of the level indicator, operation and troubleshooting of the Rotary Valve and Screw Conveyor, adjustment and maintenance of the Air Cannon for optimal arch breaking performance, proper operation of the Telescopic Chute for dust-free loading, and regular bolt tightening inspection of the Bolted Silo body.
Successful commissioning confirmed that the complete bolted cement silo system, including the Bucket Elevator, Screw Conveyor, Dust Collector, Air Cannon, Rotary Valve, and Telescopic Chute, could operate stably and supply material continuously to the concrete batching plant. This marked the official commencement of operations for the client’s concrete production across multiple job sites in Romania.
