Double drum mobile asphalt mix plant is a continuous mobile asphalt plant that has two rotating drums to dry and heat mineral aggregates and then mix them with bitumen to transform them into hot asphalt. It’s on a portable frame, so the entire unit can travel from jobsite to jobsite with minimal disassembly, which works nicely for short-term or spaced out road projects. The process combines drying and mixing in a compact, continuous system rather than a stop-start batch process.
These mobile plants typically cater to small to medium road jobs where quality specs matter but not at the level of high-end airport runways or specialized pavement layers. They have usual capacities from around 40 tons per hour up to 120 tons per hour, covering everything from local access roads to remote long-haul highway stretches. Relative to batch mix plants, drum mix mobile plants have a simpler layout, fewer moving subsystems and more straightforward controls, making them easier to start, run and maintain with lean crews. Because the drums operate in a continuous flow, they can maintain a constant flow of asphalt to the paver, which is a huge benefit on long pulls where stopping and starting would damage pavement smoothness.
Mobility is our hallmark. A mobile asphalt mix plant is constructed on a towable chassis or wheel-mounted, allowing a contractor to complete a project, relocate the plant 50 to 200 kilometers, and begin work on a new one with minimal crane operations and minimal setup time. That minimizes truck haul distances for hot mix, lowers fuel burn in logistics, and keeps mix temperature more stable since the plant can remain much nearer the paving front. Double drum or single drum, the same logic holds: continuous production, decent control of temperature and gradation, and enough flexibility to match changing job locations.
Main components and roles include:
Outer drum: heats aggregates, supports gas flow, handles dust capture.
Inner drum: mixes hot aggregates, bitumen, fillers, and RAP.
Burner system supplies controlled heat with diesel, gas, or other fuels.
Mixing zone: manages coating quality and material proportions.
Mobile chassis carries drums, conveyors, and bins for fast relocation.
